MEPCO SMART App
Last checked 26 September 2026

MEPCO SMART is Multan Electric Power Company's own mobile app for bills, payments, complaints and connection requests. MEPCO's website lists 12 services in it, with App Store and Google Play buttons on its Our App page. Official notices name two other apps: Power Smart, which MEPCO's guides use for Apna Meter Apni Reading, and DISCO LIGHT, which a PITC notice for all distribution companies lists for supply complaints. This guide explains which app does what, how to install the genuine one, and which jobs still need a website or an office.
What is the MEPCO SMART app?
MEPCO SMART is MEPCO's official app for managing an electricity connection from a phone. MEPCO says it lets customers check their electricity bills, stay updated with important notifications and reach its services easily.
The app has its own page on MEPCO's website, Our App (mepco.com.pk/mepco-mobile-app/), with buttons for the App Store and Google Play. MEPCO's home page adds that the app sends real-time notifications, including on load-shedding schedules, service outages and MEPCO announcements.
What can you do in MEPCO SMART?
MEPCO lists 12 services, from bill payment to new connections. The table groups them by job, with MEPCO's own description of each in short form.
| Group | Service in the app | MEPCO's description, in short |
|---|---|---|
| Bills | Bill Estimator | Estimates a bill at the latest energy rates |
| Bills | Pay Bill | Downloads the bill and pays it online |
| Bills | Request for installment | Sends a request to pay a bill in installments |
| Bills | Due Date Extension | Asks for a later payment deadline |
| Complaints | Complaints | Submits a complaint |
| Complaints | Track Complaints | Follows a complaint by its tracking ID |
| Complaints | NEPRA Complaints | Escalates a complaint to NEPRA |
| Complaints | Meter Change Request | Asks for a damaged meter to be replaced |
| Connections | New Connection | Applies for a new connection |
| Connections | Track New Connection | Follows a new connection application |
| Connections | Request for Change of Attributes | Applies to change the owner name, load or tariff of an existing connection |
| Connections | Update Tenant CNIC | Updates the name, CNIC, phone and email |
A request sent from the app is still decided by MEPCO under the usual rules. MEPCO's FAQ, for example, allows installments only on arrears in genuine cases, approved by the SDO, XEN, SE or CEO depending on the amount; the MEPCO bill installment rules explain the limits. The Pay Bill service is one of several options compared in how to pay a MEPCO bill, and a new connection applied for in the app moves on to a MEPCO demand notice before the meter is installed.
MEPCO SMART, Power Smart or DISCO LIGHT: which app does what?
MEPCO SMART handles your MEPCO account, Power Smart carries Apna Meter Apni Reading and some service requests, and DISCO LIGHT is the complaint app named in a PITC notice for all distribution companies. The table shows what each official source says about each app.
| App | Named by | What the official source says it is for |
|---|---|---|
| MEPCO SMART | MEPCO's Our App page | Bills, payments, complaints, NEPRA escalation, new connections, changes of owner name, load or tariff, and tenant CNIC updates |
| Power Smart (also written PowerSmart) | MEPCO's Apna Meter Apni Reading guides, PITC's overbilling action plan, the ENC portal and PITC's net metering portal | Sending a photo of your own meter reading (Apna Meter Apni Reading); new connection applications, together with e-OPS; load extension requests from MEPCO consumers |
| DISCO LIGHT | PITC's consumer awareness page, a notice for customers of every distribution company | Registering complaints about electricity supply; the notice gives no store link or MEPCO-specific name |
PITC's overbilling action plan, which MEPCO posts on its News Release page, lists the Power Smart consumer services and awareness app among its tools against overbilling. For new connections, the ENC portal tells all MEPCO users to use the MEPCO Smart App, or the PowerSmart app and e-OPS, or to visit the nearest customer facilitation centre.
The PITC notice that names DISCO LIGHT uses "DISCO" in place of a company name throughout, for example "DISCO call centre" for 118. Treat DISCO LIGHT as that notice's general label rather than a name to search for, and install only the apps that MEPCO's own pages link to.
How to get the genuine app
Start from MEPCO's own Our App page and install only what it links to, rather than searching the app stores by name.
- Open MEPCO's app page. On mepco.com.pk choose Our App, or go to mepco.com.pk/mepco-mobile-app/.
- On an iPhone, use the App Store button. It opens the MEPCO SMART listing (App Store ID 6449163231).
- On Android, check before installing. MEPCO's Google Play button opens a Play Store search for "MEPCO SMART", not a single listing. Pick the app with that exact name, check the publisher, and compare its services with MEPCO's list above.
- For Power Smart, use MEPCO's guides. MEPCO's Apna Meter Apni Reading guides carry a QR code and App Store and Google Play badges for downloading the Power Smart app.
- Skip APK files. Do not install app files sent over messaging apps or offered on other websites.
How does Apna Meter Apni Reading work in Power Smart?
You photograph your own meter and send the reading through the Power Smart app, and MEPCO's guide says the photo is compared with the one the meter reader takes. MEPCO presents it as a way to get a correct bill and to control overbilling.
MEPCO's single-phase guide shows three steps:
- Open the app and tap the meter reading icon.
- Enter your 14-digit reference number.
- Photograph the meter. The reading and the meter's serial number must be clearly visible; the guide contrasts a sharp photo with a blurred one.
MEPCO publishes separate Urdu guides for single-phase, three-phase and net (solar) meters on its News Release page, with matching videos on its Customer Services Improvement Plans page. Reading dates and each meter type are covered in how to read your MEPCO meter.
What still needs a website or an office?
Official sources send several jobs to PITC websites or MEPCO offices, and some of them are not in MEPCO SMART's service list. The table shows where each one goes.
| Job | Where the official sources send you |
|---|---|
| Viewing, printing or saving your bill without the app | PITC's bill page, bill.pitc.com.pk/mepcobill, which the MEPCO online bill check opens |
| A complaint with a ticket you can follow on the web | PITC's Customer Complaint Management System (CCMS), which MEPCO's website links as its Complaint Cell; see registering a MEPCO complaint online |
| The Cross Subsidy Program check | css.pitc.com.pk, through the QR code on the bill or the reference number |
| Registering the occupant's CNIC and mobile number with documents | PITC's portal mnr.pitc.com.pk; see MEPCO CNIC and mobile number registration |
| Changing the owner of a connection | The nearest customer facilitation centre (CFC) or RO office, according to PITC's registration portal; MEPCO SMART's Request for Change of Attributes also covers the owner name |
| A printed duplicate bill | MEPCO customer service centres, according to MEPCO's FAQ |
| A net billing (solar) application | PITC's Net Metering / Net Billing Portal (nmp.pitc.com.pk), where the consumer or an installer applies |
