MEPCO New Connection
Last checked 26 September 2026

You can apply for a new MEPCO electricity connection from your phone or at a MEPCO office. Here is the route that works today, what to attach, and what happens between your application and your first bill.
NEPRA's Consumer Service Manual gives MEPCO 30 days from registration to connect a load of up to 15 kW, and the demand notice is due within the first 10 days. The MEPCO consumer services guide lists the timeframes for larger loads.

Ways to apply
1. MEPCO SMART app
MEPCO's app lists a new connection service ("apply new connection with ease from anywhere") and a Track New Connection service. Get it on the App Store or Google Play.
2. Customer facilitation centre
Take the filled form and documents to the nearest MEPCO customer facilitation centre or your sub-division office. Circle phone directories are on MEPCO's contact page.
3. The paper form
MEPCO publishes its new connection application form (PDF, Urdu). It covers domestic and commercial single-phase connections up to 4 kW.
What the application form asks for
- Your name, your father's or husband's name and your CNIC number.
- Your full address and the address where the connection is needed.
- Whether you own or rent the premises.
- The appliances you will run, by type and number: bulbs, fans, air conditioners, heaters, washing machine, refrigerator, light plugs, power plugs and motors. This gives the total load in kW.
Documents to attach
- Proof that you own the premises.
- An attested copy of your CNIC.
- If you are a tenant: the owner's permission letter with attested proof of the owner's ownership.
What you agree to when you sign
- You accept MEPCO's tariff and terms of supply.
- The wiring was done by a person authorised by the provincial government, and you are responsible for damage caused by faulty wiring.
- If unpaid dues from an old connection at the premises are found later, you will pay them.
What happens after you apply
- Registration. MEPCO registers the application and gives you a registration number.
- Document check. The office checks your documents and returns the application if anything is missing.
- Site check. The connection section checks whether the existing transformer can take the load or new equipment is needed.
- Dues check. MEPCO confirms that no old dues are outstanding at the premises.
- Demand notice. Once everything is verified, MEPCO issues a demand notice with the amount to pay for the connection. See the demand notice guide and the security deposit rates per kW.
- Connection. After you pay, the meter is installed and your first bill follows.
Choosing the right load
Ask for a load that matches your appliances. Your monthly fixed charge is worked out on the sanctioned load, from Rs 200 to Rs 675 per kW. If you need more load later, see MEPCO load extension. At 5 kW and above, a home gets a time-of-use meter with peak-hour rates. The tariff page has the full rate table.
